About Us

Secular AZ is a nonpartisan, nonprofit advocacy organization that protects the constitutional separation of church and state and educates lawmakers and the public to ensure freedom of conscience for Arizonans of all faiths and of none. Founded in 2010, Secular AZ is operated by a board of directors and executive staff, and receives policy influence and comment from diverse liaised secular groups throughout Arizona. Collectively, these organizations represent thousands of individuals.

When the wall between church and state weakens and religion seeps into politics, we see detrimental results in areas such as discrimination, healthcare, reproductive rights, education, tax policy, and religious expression. Secular AZ works to shore up the wall between religion and government.
