About Us

Aunt Rita’s Foundation has been a cornerstone in the fight against HIV in Arizona since its founding in 1988. What began as a grassroots effort to provide essential support to those affected by HIV and AIDS has grown into a leading organization dedicated to advocacy, education, and resource distribution. Aunt Rita’s played a critical role in funding some of Arizona’s first HIV service organizations, ensuring that those impacted had access to care and support. Over the years, the foundation has expanded its reach, adapting to the evolving needs of the community while remaining steadfast in its mission to end HIV.

Today, Aunt Rita’s Foundation continues to lead the charge in HIV awareness and prevention by connecting individuals to free testing, treatment options, and educational programs. Through initiatives like the HIVAZ Connect program, and direct service programs for Youth and Aging Adults living with HIV, the foundation mobilizes the community to take action. A key component of its impact is the Partner Agency Grant Program, which provides crucial funding to local HIV service organizations, strengthening their capacity to deliver vital programs and services. Additionally, annual events such as AIDS Walk Arizona and the World AIDS Day Phoenix Candlelight Vigil bring the community together to raise awareness and support. By collaborating with local and national partners, Aunt Rita’s Foundation works to break down barriers to care, fight stigma, and create an HIV-free future for all Arizonans.
